An investigation took place on September 27th,
2008. Because we previously had a problem with noise carrying from one area to another, we carried out this investigation
with fewer people in attendance.
Throughout the night we carried out solo vigils in the mezzanine
chamber for those wishing to try it, so I begin the report with a summary of their findings.
Lila, a WYPG member, was first to try her luck. Her main report was that of a very
cold breeze touching her hand. There was a slight noise which could have been a cough and what sounded like a single
footstep. Secondly,
came Carly and Jon, who, despite asking out, found the area quiet and had nothing to report. Paul, another WYPG member came next, and suddenly the room
became very active. A growl and other noises were heard and lights were caught on the video camera. Please click on
box and links below. We recommend that you view the clips in the dark with the sound turned up to full, for maximum
enjoyment!

Emma, WYPG, was the next to take part, and so the activity
continued. She was quite startled when out of the quiet came a sound near the fireplace, like a stone being thrown.
Click below. Later, a small strange light appeared on the stairs at the side of her. We took a photograph of the
image and that is also shown below. There is no evidence to suggest that is an insect because we cannot see any wings,
and the room itself was in complete darkness.

The main investigation began in the Great Hall, with
all attendees present. After a period of protection and energy gathering we began asking out. The first reaction
from Andrew, who complained that his rear end had been pinched. I began asking for a noise to show that spirit was
there, shortly after a voice came from the King's Chamber, everybody agreeing that the voice had said, 'yes'. Click
on the box below. Apologies for the bad language, but we don't have access to a bleeper!
There suddenly sprung up a cold draught between Jon
and myself, (the temperature reading on me was 23 degrees and 32 on Andrea!), and the spirit present identified
himself as Robert (Berens or Berance). The clip below shows a light appearing at the back of my head, to the right of
the screen, at the mention of his name. When I asked his job he replied, Master at Arms, which is unusual, given that
this is a naval term. Research is being done to see if this could be a possibility.

It was at this point that Lila said she could smell
something unusal. A mixture of leather and sweet oil was as near as she could guess. When asking if this was spirit
causing the smell, a light apeared to come from my third eye, (on the right in the clip below).
Clip 5
It then became incredibly cold right around the circle.
Lila saw a shadow across the wall and then a light was seen by David with his naked eye, but he hadn't realised that he
actually had caught it on camera. Again, the light is on the right.

| Activity later in the night |
This was then followed by a series of physical effects.
Jon complained of his ear being touched, Lila and myself both experiencing the cobweb effect on our faces, and Dave, literally
brought to his knees by a severe pain in his back. So bad was it, that he actually had to put the camera on the floor,
for fear of dropping it! Suddenly, this spirit departed. We
swapped then from seance to a session of table tilting, and, whilst doing so, Jon was convinced that the name of the spirit
present now was Joseph Surtees. The information gathered from the session, where there were violent movements as
well as shaking and lifting of the table, told us that this man had worked in the castle, and was buried underneath it.
It has been documented that there is a graveyard associated with an earlier castle on the same site, and it is indeed, situated
under the present castle! A noise from the Great
Hall whilst in the King's Chamber, prompted a visit by a smaller group later in the night. They were
rewarded by two lights going to and from the fireplace, after persuing a line of questioning regarding James the
Second. See clips below.

We then shifted our attention to the small gallery
corridor that looks down on to the Great Hall, and the overwhelming sensation in this area seemed to be that of a young man
in his early twenties, who was charging up and down this area, not stopping for anything. I did ask him to stop
and strike up some conversation with us, but whatever inducement I offered nothing would slow him down. In his wake
however, he did leave some evidence of his presence. See clips below.

Paul, our cameraman, was distracted when hearing a
noise behind him on the stairs. When he turned to see what it was he caught two lights in the same area at
the end of the corridor, (see below). Also, an orb was picked up on stills on the stairs at the same time.

As we continued asking out for information to be recorded
on the dictaphone, Emma complained of a sudden pain in her head. As Paul scanned the area with the camera, two faint
light anomolies were captured going into the Great Hall, accompanied by a massive breeze. We wondered if the young
man had somehow fallen from the corridor into the Great Hall, and passed away from head injuries.

Our next area to cover was the King's Chamber,
where we had heard the voice emanate from, earlier in the evening. A man immeadiately made his presence felt, and as
we were discussing this a large light passed in front of me. See clip below.
Clip 13
We decided it might be a good idea to have a glass
divination session to gather some information, because he was only showing himself to me holding a sword upright from his
navel upward and taking two steps forward, then two steps back. I wondered at the time if it was some kind of ceremonial
gesture, and the research for that information is on going. We
began by trying to discern his rank in society, but as we were running out of options, somebody suggested king, and the glass
began to move violently. Following that line of questioning there was no movement on King of England, but yes to King
of Scotland. The glass confirmed that his mother was Mary, Queen of Scots and that this castle was not his official
place of resdience, but a convenient place to rest on his way south. His wife's name he said was Anne, and that
he had three children. We were rewarded by a couple of lights, see clips below. With the energy fading in this room and the night drawing to a close, it was decided
to make a quick visit to the chapel.

Now although there was short seance conducted, and
a brief divination session, it was reported that the area seemed fairly quiet. However, the stills photography brought
forth a plethora of orbs. See photographs beneath.

This was our second visit to Castle Keep and each visit
we make seems to bring us more and more. No doubt this will not be our last visit! many thanks to the staff, who continue to make our visits a pleasure. Pat
