Plas Newydd, Lllangollen

An investigation took place on Saturday, 31st January, 2009, with the team, and guests Sarah and Lucy.
The rooms in the house were visited on a number of occasions throughout the night, but for the sake of brevity in the report, I have kept the descriptions of the highlights down to each room.
Plas Newydd, was originally a cottage that was re-named after 'The Ladies of Llangollen', Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsenby, took up residence there.  They began re-modelling and decorating, beginning the phase of the oak-panelling obsession, that was later carried on by General Yorke.  It is the most beautiful of houses and if your ever in the area a visit is highly recommended.
We began our evening by meeting in the visitor's center (previously part of the stables), that was to be our hub for the night.  It was a warm retreat for what turned out to a perishing night for the vast majority of the people there, although personally, I didn't seem to be affected that much!
After a brief tour for taking phtotgraphs we began our investigation by gathering protection in the Library.  After asking for some communication from spirit we were rewarded.  I felt as though someone was stood behind me, so was not surprised when a light was reported.  See clip below.

Clip 1

Lila reported that the right-hand side of her throat felt as though it was exploding, and it was then that the first thud of the evening was heard, and although it was not picked up on the video camera, was to continue throughout the night.
Several noises were then heard coming from the corner of the room, so we decided to put our hands around the table to see if we could pick up any movement.  It did jolt once, when a breeze sprung up between me and Andrew, felt also by Dave shortly after.  We tried using a lighter to detect if there was one, but there was no movement of the flame!
However, in a later visit, we did have some communication with one Patrick Brennan/Behan ?, who proclaimed quite loudly that 'I am a Republican,' although which Republic he did not say, neither did he give us any more information.
As a matter of note, this room is where we had our new group photograph taken, very expertly by Sarah, I might add.  It would seem, from the photograph below, that we were not alone at that point either!

We next moved upstairs to 'The Ladies' dressing room.  Emma immediately complained of having a headache upon entering, a phenomena that was to be shared by nearly every female that was present.  It was later discovered that Eleanor was prone to violent migraine attacks, often treated with herbal remedies, and Sarah was often the one charged with calming the ensuing bad temper.
A female spirit made herself known and although she did not give her name when asked, she did later say the word 'Cara'.  We didn't know who she was saying it to, but Sarah thought it meant 'love' in Italian, and Emma mentioned that she had a friend of that name.  Not convinced that it was meant as a name, I looked up the word in Irish Gaelic, a language the ladies would have been familiar with, and came up with the answer, 'friend'.  I must admit, the whole place did have a lovely friendly atmosphere! Below is a clip, caught while asking for information about this lady.  At this point I did ask if this lady was either Sarah or Eleanor, but got no response  with either sound or light.

We next moved into the ladies bedroom, where we were greeted with a quick succession of lights - see clip below.

I asked out for a noise and was answered with a thud, then asked for another for verification, and got one.  This was a phenomena that was to carry on throughout the night.  See box below.

Dave and Julie did have a trip downstairs to see if they could find the source of the bangs, and did hear another while they were there.  It seemed to be coming from an area rather than from some object, and they sounded to me like miniture sonic booms.  I have asked advice from a parapsychologist if there has been mention of air being manipulated before - I await a reply.  For the same reason Dave then moved to the top of the landing.  It was there that he had a strange experience.  As he was filming away from the room across the landing and intense cold affecting him, and blurring on the camera, he spoke to Julie, expecting her to be right beside him.  Actually, Julie had moved position and was in the bedroom with us!  He was very suprised when he found out because he believed she was right there.  He had seen a small, dark figure stood beside him and assumed it to be her!  In the mayhen that ensued, a light was caught on camera.  See clip below.

Meanwhile, in the bedroom, I was being shown an image of three ladies, not two.  I was asking for more information about the third lady but all I could hear was laughing!  Then came the name, Mary, and when I asked for confirmation if this was right we received a bump in reply.  I asked for another, just to confirm the first had not been random, and received another one, box below.

We decided a glass session may be in order to try and find out who this Mary was, and while we were discussing the possibilities a light appeared on the bottom of the screen, (clip 5).  At the time, our historian was informing us about Mary Caryl, the ladies' maid who had travelled with them from Ireland, (clip6).  She had been so devoted to them, she is actually buried along side them in the local graveyard.  That is only one possibility, because no definite information was given during the glass session, in fact, some of it was confusing and misleading.
However, when discussing one male visitor they did show me an image of  a man wearing a scarlet uniform, and using the glass we did manage to ascertain the name as the Duke of Wellington.  He had, according to our historian, been a visitor to the house in his younger days.  This is what was shown during the discussion, in clip 7.

The second visit to the room proved just as productive, but also came the return phenomena of the headaches for the women in the room.  As I announced their arrival, they were good enough to show it in lights across Dave's back and near the bed, see clip below.

Clip 8

We questioned the ladies about their relationship and asked if it had been generally accepted, when we got a light appearing on screen, (clip 9 ).  We then asked if they were trying to tell us something, and got another light in response, (clip 10 ).

There then came a most unusual period, where reponses to questions were being gathered from every source.  I began to get images in my head that I was sharing and asking for responses to.  The glass continued to move around in a circle for yes, at the same time lights were being shown around the bed AND bumps being heard as well.  There was so much going on that David didn't know where to point the camera!!
The first image was that of a carriage being stuck in shallow water, with either a missing or broken wheel, see response below.

Clip 11

The next image was one of a hand holding gold coins.  I was struggling to see the signficance of this, only to be informed by Ian that Eleanor had been a sum of money by the monarch of the time at the behest of the Duke of Wellington.  This was followed by the sound of whimpering, heard by three of us, and we got this on camera - see below.

Clip 12

I then had a couple of images, the contents of which I couldn't have shared with anyone.  Suffice to say that they were of a personal nature with a XXX rating!!  At this time, what was picked up on camera was phenomenal.  See clips below and look towards the right half of the screen.

Clip 13

Clip 14

The only other image shown was that of a tree.  Although we did get two faint lights in reponse, nobody knew for definite what the significance was.
The gentleman's bedroom, situated top left of the stairs, also produced some good results on camera, although the gentleman concerned was being less than co--operative, and accused me of 'being impertinent madam', ( he may have been right)!  Physical effects were felt by various people, headache (Emma), cobwebs (Paul) and a heavy breathlessness (Lucy and myself), to name but a few.
Lights were seen when asking of his name and also if he could show himself as a light, see clips below.
Apart from hearing a woman shouting the name Charles, nothing further of significnce occured.

Clip 16

The attic was visited by a small group, and they began askng out for Mary Caryl, to which the reponse was a small light above Lila's head.  There was no response to any dates given, but Andrea did complain of a numbness down the left hand side of her face.  Andrea detected the energy of an old lady, while later Lila had the image of a milkmaid wearing a yoke.  Nothing was picked up on either camera or dictaphone.
As the night drew to a close nothing of any significance other than the photos below was picked up in either the Oak Room or Sitting Room, but both these areas will be investigated at greater length on our return visit, which will hopefully be very soon!!
